I think I'm going to try to read a chapter or maybe two per day. Hopefully that keeps me from rushing through things and missing details Iike I've done in the past haha.

I couldn’t wait!! I started The Great Hunt. I loved the Prologue - The Dark Friends’ Social. So interesting to use Bors perspective; I just need to remember that when he becomes more prominent and I wonder what his special mission in Tarabon was???

Yeah, the prologue is interesting. It’s the only time we get the perspective of a darkfriend that’s not a channeler.

I'm through Ch 5 of TGH and I have two comments...

The darkfriend social: I was always surprised that Bors was judging what his colleagues revealed by their outfits as if it made them idiots. I wonder how many of them did that deliberately in order to lead people to the wrong conclusions? If it was me, I would absolutely wear a style of dress from halfway across Randland, or dress as a man maybe. And you KNOW if those Aes Sedai were covered except for their fingers it was because they darn well wanted everyone to know AS served the shadow!

In ch 4 when Moiraine is preparing to meet the Amyrlin, her shawl is described as "embroidered with curling ivy and grapevines", forever shaping my mental image of what an AS shawl should look like. I didn't realize I formed that impression so early in the series but there it is!

Went ahead and got started in The Great Hunt, so much going on. I never understood the schism between Rand, Moraine and eventually, the Tower - but this time I was able to understand how Moraine and Siuan deliberately set it up. I also didn't realize how early on Verin was in this strategy (or at least I had forgotten it). It will certainly provide greater context to later actions. Rand's attempts to distance himself from his friends (Mat and Perrin) was much more poignant for me this time.

I could understand more clearly the intense hurt that Mat and Perrin felt at Rand's behavior. I also enjoyed the moment of clarity and fondness between Lan and Nynaeve when he gives her his signet.

Some of them. we can later work out who they are, or I think , it was confirmed. Others, we never find out - all sorts of plans and things happening "off screen" that apparently didn't work out and we never get to see them

I was thinking I'd be able to do that RIGHT NOW but man it is all just so vague. So yeah I think later we get some additional references that help with a few and I'm hoping I can make those connections when I get there, now that I'm reading more slowly and (hopefully) for details like that.
