Gah, Selene in the books drives me nuts. She's so obviously evil!! Like, "Rand, get the horn for the glory! You'll be a great man, Rand! But what about seeking glory?" Not a subtle bone in her body. Only a woolhead like Rand would fall for her hot evil lady nonsense.

Just finished reading The Shadow Rising, and the fact that she is willing to sacrifice one of the Forsaken to achieve her goals is incredible. Same with when she tries to convince Perrin to kill Rand or Moraine or Nynaeve (I can’t remember which) in aMoL.

Lanfear is sort of a wild card among the Forsaken. She doesn't care about anyone or anything other than herself. Even her loyalty to the Dark One is low. That is one aspect of Lanfear that I felt the Prime show really was able to highlight. She only cares about getting Lews Therin. That is her obsession, beyond all reason, and anything else is irrelevant.

Agreed. She doesn’t use her beauty like Graendal, or her let her obsession consume her like Demandred, but she is definitely arrogant and highly opinionated about herself, as even said that she and Rand could use the Choedan Kal to challenge both the Dark One AND the Creator.

This is exactly how I feel at this point. It was insta-hate as soon as she showed up and Rand was SO OBLIVIOUS.

Wolverine as Perrin or Rand? (I'm leaning Perrin the more I think about it.)

I'm torn on Rand. I'm thinking Spike or Avalanche might work. Hard to say since I'm trying to think of someone who has occasional anger issues but isn't a bad guy.

So I'm up to ch30 in TGH and having a lot of feels lol.

I remember starting WoT and I'd mostly only read books that focused on a single character or a few, so I expected the entire WoT series to be ALL RAND with maybe some Mat and Perrin, and snippets of Egwene. Maybe the random chapter every once in a great while about some other character, but not much.

In book one I immediately shipped Lan/Nynaeve but I figured we'd only get to experience that relationship second hand, like in the beginning of TGH we get one scene with them together and then another scene where Egwene sees them talking but we don't know what was said. I expected that was how all other characters and relationships would be experienced for the most part.

Then we get a Moiraine POV talking to Lan about passing his bond when she dies, and then we get Nynaeve POV for her Accepted test, and teenage me started to realize holy heck I was going to get to LIVE the Lan/Nynaeve relationship! And there were going to be a LOT more first hand stories in this series than just Rand and a couple of others. It was so world-changing for me. I thought the realization came to me later in the series, but it definitely started as early as the first half of TGH, whether I consciously realized it or not.

ANYWAY I'm so glad to be rereading.

I'm enjoying it with you @Megana Vallentin !! I'm entering Falme with Rand, Mat, Perrin and the Heroes of the Horn!! I love the scene where Hawkwing taps Hurin on the shoulder and suggests that him might become a Hero as well. Reminds me that any one of us might and that Heroes come from us, everyday simple persons.

Finished the Great Hunt last night. What a wonderful journey. It was curious how Moraine showed up at the very end. In time to witness? It seems so. How long was she there? Clearly she had time to pick through the battle's aftermath (as she raided Turak's treasures...). A day? More? Was she waiting in Falme even before then? Lying low?

Whew...and next the Dragon Reborn...but I'm not sure how the rest of the "read along" gang is doing...

Yeah, the way Moiraine just shows up towards the end there is a bit strange. Then again, she probably had a bit of a journey, since she couldn't use Portal Stones the way Rand & co did... I don't remember exactly where Vandene and Adealas lived, but probably closer to TarValon than Falme...

I just finished LoC, and when Rand says that he’ll cut off his arm before he hurts Min… that‘s definitely foreshadowing.
