First of all I really enjoyed this book, I felt like it was a better read than the first one...which I also enjoyed.
Spoilers ahead if you have not finished book two.
There were only a couple things I took issue with this book:
First, Rand's development in his capabilities seems a bit...sudden. In a very short time, it's as if he's gone from being a clumsy village boy to an elite warrior who can defeat blade masters, pick off grolm eyeballs from 100 yards away, and face the dark one in single combat and walk away alive. It's very cool! But like I said, it does seem a little sudden.
Second, Bornhald and his Children of Light seemed like a pointless plot line in this book. I was a little underwhelmed by what happened with them, it seemed as if all they did was march around causing some trouble in villages, showed up for the final battle and were utterly destroyed. What purpose did they serve? Maybe their destruction will lead to further developments in book 3, but for now I'm left wondering why they were even included.
Thats it. Onward to book 3!
