Thanks Lillian
This was an event that caused much anger and sadness for the situations and people involved.
And was responded to, as was said before, quickly with careful thought, determination and sensitivity.
The potential was there for an implosion and dissolution of the community, and that did not happen.
Bravo to our leadership, to Hammar, and to all the membership for pulling together.
Thank you for all of your work (and I am sure, knowing the legal system and the agencies involved, it has taken a good amount of time), and for this update.
It is greatly appreciated.
Stealing tens of thousands of dollars over the course of several years is not a "mistake". It is an intentional criminal betrayal, and I'm extremely pleased that the authorities are investigating this so that he does not continue to do this to other organizations he's "helping".
You know that I love you, Stephan,.mentee mine. You're showing a LOT of compassion here - more than I'd ever be able to muster in this situation. That's an incredibly admirable personality trait.
I just would like to know that, when all the dust settles, we'll be apprised of what, if any, punishment Riley receives for being such an ass hat. I am quite willing to wait since I know these things can take years. I just feel that we are entitled to know the eventual outcome.
Also, I still think our lawyer has the coolest board name ever.
I cannot believe I never noticed that during the thick of things. :desk
IDK buying a new car and iPhone, among other things, doesn't seem like something a person who is in "deep financial problems" would, or even should, be doing. I'd feel a bit more compassion if he was saving his sick kid or something instead of posting about all these new, frivolous things that he's getting on facebook (publicly).
Basically this. I don't see any need to be compassionate to someone buying luxury items with stolen money. Of course he's a person. Criminals aren't 2-dimensional fictional characters dressed all in black, stroking a knife and chortling at the evil deeds he's done and will do in future. Only Ram is like that. Everyone else is a person and should be held accountable for their actions. Do you think you'll find one person in jail who isn't a person? I don't think anyone is under the illusion that he's twirling his black mustache as he ties the whole Tower to the train tracks. I don't care in the slightest how filled with regret he is or how much it's ruined his life so far; that and fifty cents gets us a bag of chips.
I will repeat the sentiment I gave in the original post revealing his criminal actions: He has proven himself an untrustworthy person and I hope EVERYONE in his personal life learns about it when the justice system and IRS have concluded their investigations. He should never be in a position of power again. He should lose his professional licensing. He should go to jail for a long time and I will be pleased when I see it.
I am not interested in the slightest about revenge. This is 100% justice and prevention. Everyone is welcome to give him love and compassion; that's fine. He'll earn none from me. I am very glad the administration took things seriously and reported him. We have laws and jails for a reason and he's a perfect candidate.
Criminals aren't 2-dimensional fictional characters dressed all in black, stroking a knife and chortling at the evil deeds he's done and will do in future.
It sounds like there is no current plan for that money to be repaid, is that the case? I understand if this cannot be answered.

Hammer also has a pretty snazzy avatar to go with that name, and has been a great boon to us through this process. Thank you so much for continuing to update us as able, and thank you so much to our community for containing to support and be involved in rebuilding and strengthening the Tower.
