Thank you to Sailea Nerid, Jeem Al'Cazar, and Luna Morn for their service this past term for the second half of 2014. I became mayor during that time, and you showed me the ropes and used your knowledge and ingenuity to put up with my shenanigans. Your feedback was instrumental to shaping the direction of this team in the new year so once again thank you. I loved working with each of you!
It is now with great happiness that I announce the Welcoming Committee for the first half of 2015. Their specializations are outlined in the hiring post here.
The Welcoming Committee
Mayor: Zandera Sommers
Greeter: Kveldolf Tikvah
Greeter: Ahmyra al'Ruley
Scribe: Luna Morn
Renaissance Man: Leo Kian
Renaissance Woman: Anarie de'Thain
In addition to the staff listed above, there are a number of volunteers, some of which have already been helping out the Department of Membership, and some which have recently come on board to aid in future projects. These are all volunteer positions, but I'd like to recognize them because they still do work without being asked and with no reward.
The Friendly Face Team
This team, consisting primarily of senior members, does a job similar to the greeters of the Welcoming Committee. They reach out to new members to forge friendships and pull visitors into the social circles of the site. They are exceptionally open and inviting people and have a knack for striking up a conversation. Thank you for all your hard work!
These delicious bards have the pleasure of enhancing events in City Hall, raising posts, and a variety of places on the Boards with their words, lyrics, songs, and visual arts. I am happy to welcome professional bard Belgareth Kiarc Gaidin to the team as well as the First Bard Ealandrelle Melyma Sedai. The mayor will be barding as well.
A History of TarValon.Net
This small but ambitious project will be getting off the ground this term with Taelinn Dolivras Sedai working with the mayor to compile a history of the site, complete with inside jokes, Tower traditions, historical sections based off each Amyrlin's term in order to give new members an in-depth resource to learn more about us. We hope this project will also contribute to the site as a whole.
I'm very grateful that so many volunteers have gravitated toward the Welcoming Committee. These changes, including the specializations of the staff and the extra projects, will be part of a 6-month trial to explore how we as a site can give our Welcoming Committee more dimension. If you have any questions or comments about the changes, feel free to email me at mayor@tarvalon.net.
Thank you to everyone who applied. I wish I could take all of you, and I hope you will apply in the future. Welcome once again to the new folks of the Welcoming Committee!
