Yes it's voice and text, with plans for both screensharing and video chat in the works. I would not be surprised if they arrive within the next month or two- they work fast over there. :P

so I shouldn't by my MiRC program then? I'm on a trial version at the moment.

Also, voice and especially video I'd advise against making those mandatory for anything. It may be a step too far for some people who might not feel comfortable with that.

And also.... I wanna be a total slacker while pretending to be super serene and stuff. :tug

Hm. So I won't be able to use my old chat program in future.
And when voting go for this discord stuff, you won't be able to just join via link on the bord as it is now, I assume?

*shrugs*

Will end to chat for special people. Gonna miss it. But that's how the wheel turned...

Yes, you can use discord via a link without installing anything. No, voice chat is not mandatory or I wouldn't be rallying so hard :rofl

I have once bought mIRC but only because I used it so many years for free. You can use it indefinitely for free cant you? Thays how I remember it.

These days I use an irc app on my android. The one I use works very similar to mirc but on mobile. Its called #andchat and is free. I find it more convenient because I hardly ever sit in front of my computer unless working on a project.

Technically you can only use mIRC free for 90 days now, then it will actually block use. But each update restarts the time. And there are a lot of updates.

So I'm curious, in the agenda post; it was mentioned about the bonding discussion. Yet I haven't seen anything about it in this thread.

More to the point, there's HexChat these days, which I feel pretty much supplants mIRC altogether for practical purposes.

The look and feel are similar - if you're used to mIRC, you'll take to HexChat pretty easily, with about the only real differences in the experience being the configuration menus and (for those who use it ... HexChat has a lot of built-in modules that mean a lot less need for it) scripting (HexChat scripting uses standard text based scripting languages rather than a specialty script like mIRC).

And HexChat is truly-free, with no time limits, and works on basically every traditional computer OS :)

I was going to suggest HexChat, but Amarande beat me to it. It's simple enough for the casual user, and has a decent amount of customization options for more advanced users.

Merits

A proposal was received that community group-specific roles deserve recognition. These are unofficial roles, and do not have the moderator powers that the official role of Heart or Honor Guard have. Though the workload can be substantial, it is not even across groups, and we felt that a merit specific to these roles wouldn’t be appropriate. However, we think recognizing contribution within a community group is a good thing.

We concluded that this is best done by once a year asking the Heads of Ajah/Company Commanders to nominate someone from their group to receive the Award/Merit. This would be a Silver Merit that does not become Gold if earned more than once. It would be eligible to contribute to the Alchemist Merit.

Does this mean each HoA/CC will be giving out a merit, or will we only nominate candidates and one candidate overall will win one?

Each group will nominate one person.
I should probably see if people want to nominate for the next batch
