Maybe I just wanted to justify her death, instead of feeling like I just got punched in the gut.
I will have to say, when I first read the Eye of the World, I liked egwene the least of all the characters. By the time I turned the final page of a Memory of light, she was my favorite by a mile. Her story arc was by far the best in the whole series.
I was sad to see her heroic demise
Yeah, I really want to know whether her bargain with the Wise Ones and Windfinders ever actually happened... and whether the deal with the Seanchan happened too... I don't want Aviendhas visions to become true
A short time ago I would have agreed with you Kyredon, but recently I have been following this liveblogger, Neuxue, and she literally predicted Egwenes death after about book 1
And I think that this way, she will be remembered as a great Amyrlin, and her memory would live on longer... If she had continued on for a long time, that would inevitably have faded a bit...
Although I wasn't happy to see her die, I did think it was fitting with the story.
Also, I kind of like the idea of going out in a blaze of glory, at the height of your success. It is a wonderful way to be remembered for all the amazing things she did. If she had lived, she would have inevitably been drawn into more drama, for better or worse. And although she may have been an incredible Amyrlin, with things happening the way they did she is THE incredible Amyrlin that all others will be compared to and who no one can outshine. IMO.
