Like Beldur I am pretty new myself. I am also early into the series. Right now I'm just finishing up the 4th book. It's so great, isn't it!!! My favourite character... that is always a tricky question to answer. I think, at the moment, it would be Lan, though I also like Loial and Elyas and... well, several more.

As for cool things, the Ways and the Blight spring to mind, though there are many more of those as well.

I'm a little hesitant to post in the book discussion forums right away, since I have not read three of the four books being discussed, but I will be sure to do so at some point. Maybe after a few more chapters. That's bound to make a difference.

Don't worry too much, lots to do outside of the book discussions here, chime in there as you feel comfortable not spoiling yourself. Finishing the series is nothing if not a test of endurance.

I love the concept of the ways. Scary beyond what monsters and their ilk could cause. At least for me. The idea of falling, possibly forever... before getting to the wind...

Books were one of the first things we talked about, which led to Wheel of Time and eventually Tar Valon. That was a month or two ago, so I've certainly taken my time to register.
