For the past 5 years, we have all been incredibly fortunate to have Dralyn Sedai serve as Keeper of the Chronicles. She has served a term that was ever-evolving, and saying that she has been insturmental to our successes would be a vast understatement. When she took this position, I did not have a personal relationship with her. Outside of the minimal interactions we had in Admin, I really didn't know her at all. Since that time I've grown so close to her that I consider her family.
We had only a few applications for this position, and each of the applicants blew the minimum requirements out of the water. They all had experience in multiple departments, had all held leadership roles, had exceptional history with the Tower, were well liked by all members, and each would bring something unique to the role. I cannot begin to tell you how hard it was to make a decision (and I am very glad that I did not make it on my own; thank you Board of Directors!). When I received each application, I was rather overwhelmed. I honestly had no idea how this would turn out until we finally made the decision. I want to thank every applicant for putting themselves forward for this position. They not only took the time to research the position, talk to me and Dralyn one on one, and wrote detailed applications.... they each were willing to devote their talents, efforts, and personal time to help fulfill an important need in our community. Thank you, all, for offering yourselves to take on this responsability. I wish I could have worked with you all in this sort of capacity. I am grateful to know that I *have* worked with all of you, still work with some of you, and will undoubtably work with all of you again. You're all fantastic people, and I am so grateful to have you as friends and fellow Servants of All.
And so it is my honor to announce the next person to wear the Keeper's stole: Leora Sedai of the Red Ajah.
Leora has been an active member of this community for 5 years, and has served in a wide variety of roles including Guild Master, Moderator, Hall Representative, Legal Advisor, Personal Assistant to the Amyrlin, and Head of Ajah. In her "real life", she is a Prosecutor for the State of Texas. She brings extensive experience to the position both from her work here and her education/skill set from her profession. She also brings a unique perspective to the leadership team, both coming from the smallest organization in our community and in not being part of the "Old Guard" (which, in my mind, tends to be the folk who joined us in our first 2 - 3 years). She is highly analytical, detail oriented, and I believe will provide a good balance to my own strengths.
Leora will be training with Dralyn Sedai as we move into this transition. The position of Keeper of the Chronicles will be offically passed on at a ceremony to be held at 10th Anni in Charleston.
Welcome aboard, Leora! Light help you.... you've got to work with me for the forseeable future. I'll uh.... I'll start stacking up on the chocolate and red wine. You're probably going to need it.
