    About Taim, 100th time

I think the reveal of Asmodean's killer was pretty good. It was mentioned in a natural way. It shouldn't have to be said explicitly. I actually missed it when I first read it, and didn't see it until I reached the glossary. But it's all there. And it's good.

    About Taim, 100th time

I think that's precisely what we'll get ... on some things. Because there are too many threads to solve them all thoroughly - and probably because some things have never been meant to be explained in detail.

    About Taim, 100th time

But there's a difference between impersonating something the general public knows, and impersonating another person's best friend or something. That's what I mean - people knew him from a distance. And they knew him as a False Dragon. He's not a False Dragon anymore, so any minor differences...

    About Taim, 100th time

Ishy would have known Taim if he killed Taim ... he could just have interrogated him before killing him. And there's nobody who really knows Taim, so he wouldn't even have to dig up a whole lot of information. I don't think that the DO has perfect timing. Considering the bodies he gave Aginor...

    About Taim, 100th time

But that's much more unlikely than the simpler theory of: 1. Ishy got killed. 2. Ishy is reincarnated into the body used by Moridin. 3. Taim escapes. 4. Taim is killed by Ishy, who then impersonates him. Your theory requires much more precise timing.

    About Taim, 100th time

Actually, Lews Therin is conspicuously absent the entire chapter. Rand even calls out to him during the fight with Sammael, with no response. So that doesn't really say anything. But even so ... the doubt here is whether or not Taim is Moridin, isn't it? That Moridin is Ishamael is pretty much...

    About Taim, 100th time

As did I. When I say that Taim could be Moridin, I mean that Moridin uses the OP to disguise himself and appear as Taim.

    About Taim, 100th time

Of course he can be both. We don't really know exactly what Moridin does, aside from attending the odd Forsaken gathering. We do know that he's busy with something, important enough that he wasn't at the Cleansing, for instance. That could well be posing as Taim. Taim's the boss at the Black...

    About Taim, 100th time

That's not true. Some False Dragons haven't been able to channel the OP at all. And Taim can channel strongly. Everything he needs to do to be an even more successful false dragon is blow things up. That's pretty basic, at least if you're strong with Fire and Earth. You don't have to know lots...

    About Taim, 100th time

Speaking of voices: It is Semirhage speaking, so obviously, we can't be 100% sure that she's speaking the truth. But it adds up with what we've seen. Rand seems to be having pretty severe reactions to his madness, and it's continued after the taint was purged from saidin. If Taim actually...

    About Taim, 100th time

IIRC, Semirhage indicated that there were people even during the AoL that heard real voices, as in, their past lives. That other make channelers hear voices doesn't mean everyone's other voice is real. Hearing voices is pretty much madness 101, isn't it?

    About Taim, 100th time

And your own quote states that she did it, but had no idea how. I'm not saying that people, especially Talented, can't discover new weaves, or that others can't experiment and invent stuff. But how could Taim have learnt so much, and all of it on jus own? He's a wilder. Nynaeve and Egwene had a...

    About Taim, 100th time

But people haven't been creating them en masse. Rand seems to be fairly unique; there haven't (iirc) been any mention of other male channelers hearing voices that literally tell them how to create new weaves. And women certainly don't seem to just make them up with no effort. Isn't it more...

    About Taim, 100th time

Thempus: I like debating, so please, do post your criticism of what I said! Aulrick: Taim knows too much to be just a regular darkfriend. He doesn't have to be a Forsaken ... but he's got to have some sort of connection.

    About Taim, 100th time

Re: About Taim, 100th time - pls respond, it's driving me cr The general idea is that the Taim we see isn't actually Mazrim Taim. It's Ishamael posing as him. Meaning that somewhere, somehow, Ishamael got rid of him and replaced him. Which probably wouldn't have been difficult for him to do...

    About Taim, 100th time

Re: About Taim, 100th time - pls respond, it's driving me cr Because he's mad? In the early books, there weren't any gateways for travelling. People just sort of shimmered and disappeared. I don't really care, it's so minor ... I just meant that it could be that Ishamael channeled the TP, or...

    About Taim, 100th time

Re: About Taim, 100th time - pls respond, it's driving me cr Maybe he was able to channel a bit. You know, like they do in tel'aran'rhiod? Where they can channel very weakly, if they use the weaker types of ter'angreal to get there. So if he can project himself out into the world somehow, maybe...

    About Taim, 100th time

Re: About Taim, 100th time - pls respond, it's driving me cr He was only partially sealed, so he was able to partially escape the Bore every now and then, sufficiently to influence the world somewhat. It was said that he instigated the Trolloc Wars (the Dark One was rumoured to have appeared to...

    About Taim, 100th time

Re: About Taim, 100th time - pls respond, it's driving me cr The Dark One is referred to as "Lord of the Grave", and it seems to be a common superstition that he can claim the souls of the dead in some manner. Perhaps that was more widely known in the AoL? Aside from that, it could be an...
