I liked the intro in Ch2. A very little glimpse at the impact of the changes on the normal
people in Tear.
An interesting set of shorts would be a look at the world from the individuals in the world. We get some of those, such as the Apple Orchard scene later in the series, but I wish we...
Starting The Shadow Rising tonight. Been looking forward to this one. There are some of my favorite parts in the series in this book if my memory is accurate.
I don’t recall if she mentions where she learned it, but didn’t she say in an earlier chapter/book that she could be stilled just for knowing the weave for it?
And for as dangerous everyone seems to talk about BF being, and how much no one uses it anymore, an awful lot of people seem to use it...
I always wonder how much of a multi-book storyline authors have when they sit down and write the first couple books.
I imagine authors sometimes feel a bit constrained by decisions they made 4 books before when they get some better idea about a plot direction or characters backstory...
I wonder if he was right, or if it just his mistrust of everyone and he may have slaughtered innocent people. I didn’t see anything in that case that made it clear they were dark friends…
Yeah... everyone recognizes it as a trap. But Nynaeve and girls think they are oh so smart and can catch everyone when they spring it all by themselves.
Overconfident much...
What I wonder is if Siuan thinks the girls will succeed, or if she sees them as so expendable it doesn't matter if...
I did a big “binge read” when I started this book so I’m still a few weeks ahead and waiting to continue :-)
And I totally agree with you Toral Gaidin on Matt and the fight. I had been looking forward that scene from the beginning of the book. Matt grew to be one of my favorite, if not...
It might be a bit blasphemous to say it here, but throughout my first read of the books I constantly found just about all the Aes Sedai arrogant and hypocritical.
They expect immediate obedience from anyone, and always believe they are the only ones who could possibly be smart enough to...
On my re-read this time through, I absolutely assume that to be the case. Her insistence that the girls not talk about it with anyone, including the Amyrlin unless she brings it up first kinda sold me on the idea.
And while I later forgot about it.. I think I found the behavior suspicious...
I totally agree Cattrin Sedai. On this re-read I keep asking myself how I could have not noticed it the first time around. Of course it's probably because I real like Verin and didn't want to think badly of her.
There were other Aes Sedai that I kept waiting to be revealed as Black, only to...
I've been waiting to ask this until the reread officially started...
But how did all the ladies who came to meet with Moiraine in the woods through the winter know where she was? How was she sending them info? I suppose each messenger would tell the next messenger where and when to go, but...
Didn’t Moiraine and Lan head towards Falme when they left the sisters because Toman Head had “come up” in 2 or 3 different places. But mentioned that it would take them mo tha to get there because they didnt use the Ways or another shortcut method?
Getting a jump start on The Dragon Reborn and the Prophecy but at the start states
“And his paths shall be many, and who shall know his name, for he shall be born among us many times, in many guises, as he has been and ever will be, time without end.”
This reads like LTT is most definitely...
My impression has always been that LTT had been reborn many times, and lived many lives before Rand. But there are a number of "things" that have to be aligned for the path to lead to the last battle. If something goes "awry" then the pattern eventually spins him back out for another go...
I’d think they are always bound to the horn, through all ages. But who they are most remembered as would depend on the most impactful previous life relevant to the Age. In the Third Age Hawkwing’s empire building and assault on Tarvalon are what he is remembered for. In the Age of Legends he...
Just finished the Hunt. It’s a good book, but the endings always feel so rushed.
Verin’s “secret” is totally put out there when Moiraine says “she didn’t send Verin”. Or at least it is clear to the reader that one or the other straight up lied. I can’t remember if Verin ever says “Moiraine...
