I loved Slow Regard. :look: :pleased-1: It was one of my favorites read last year. I listened to it on audio and found it sweet and magical.

You know, I'm hoping that maybe, just maybe, with everyone going into quarantine, and all sports, conventions, etc. indefinitely suspended we could actually get a finished Doors of Stone out of this pandemic (and perhaps even a Winds of Winter if we're real lucky)

I really hope so. He has no excuse now. It feels like it’s been a decade since book 2. Why is he dragging his feet so much?

Mental illness, I believe. At least that's what I remember him mentioning? Which means a pandemic likely won't be inspiring him to write.

I'd like to seethe next book. I don't care about Winds of Winter - if Martin ever finishes the series, I'll get both books, but I'm not going to bother reading one more that barely moves the story forward if it isn't going to ever be finished

Gotta admit...it was why I didn't start the WoT until providence intervened with a responsibility, I wasn't sure that RJ would finish. But Rothus has taken this to a whole new level.

@Raam Sho'am ; guess we can check back into this thread in another couple years eh....

I feel bad for the man. Writing a book is hard and having so many people waiting, every year that’s added must make it that much harder.

Apparently Book 3 (for now titled "The Doors of Stone") is set to come out in 2014.

Every once in a while, I just have to come back to this and chuckle.

Jfc, I didn't realize it had been that long.

Though I agree with Nadezhda here. As a writer, I can absolutely sympathize with how hard it can be to "force" yourself to write and focus and be creative and be inspired. Especially when Rothfuss is such a perfectionist with his writing and with people getting upset with him for not writing.

I might legitimately stab someone for that last book, though. Still not holding my breath for it.

This is also why I usually don't join the hype for ongoing TV series. The risk of them getting cancelled or just becoming bad is so frequent.

I used to be so excited for this series, but then the second book was just.... :facepalm
