I’m very excited to share the TarValon.Net Vision and Mission Statement. This document will serve as the guide for our community and the activities we want to grow, and as an explanation of our purpose to those who want to learn more about us.
There are three main parts:
Under each cornerstone is a list of examples of programs and activities that support each goal. This is not intended to be a restrictive list or an all-inclusive inventory. It is intended to highlight key programs, and support ideas for the future.
One new program is listed under Real Life Community – “Authentic Wheel of Time costume guides.” This idea will look to harness the passion in the Wheel of Time community for cosplay while also providing a mechanism for real-life engagement throughout the year in addition to our real-life events. This will include contributions like patterns for shawls or regional dresses, but will also look to partner with the library to develop the leading costume guide that can help draw in new fans as we have costume examples from the upcoming show.
Each department will be developing goals to support this strategy, and you’ll also see several announcements in the coming days of how we plan to restructure some of our work to better align to these plans.

There are three main parts:
- The vision is an aspirational projection of the future of our site
- The mission statement clarifies our overall purpose
- The cornerstones are the four areas of focus to bring that mission to life
