BUT is it because i am NOT yet a citizen and cant access ALL the forums, that it seems to me that NO ONE ever responds to ANY of the threads i post in!! hahah
I mean..When i look the next day to see if anyones has added to my discussions etc etc, NO one has added anything! LOL I mean are the Forums that i DONT have access to yet a LIL more Busy and exciting!! hahaha
I GUESS that with the series finally OVER ( monthes ago) there isnt a LOT of discussion going on anymore huh? IDK i was just hoping for really rousing Or at least silly discussions! Imstead i feel even nerdier than usual because EVERY thread i look at was LAST UPDATED by...well.. ME! hahahahah So i also feel like a lil bit of a wierdo! hahahahahahahhahaahahh
Anyways...I LOVE this place! I just hope that i can find a few more excited people to get all nerdy and enthusiastic with me!!! <3 <3 <3
Also one day i think id LIKE to be the Amyrlin ? Even though i have man parts. :) is that do-able? :P LOLOL Okay oklay! i take it back!

yes, the forums you cant see are more lively also, we have lulls. you will sometimes see more posting during the week than on the weekends, very few posts when a RL event is going on, and then lots of activity when everyone returns from events. you'll get used to it.

It also kind of depends on what topics you start, and how you respond....a lot of people here don't respond well to lots of caps lock...per internet etiquette, caps lock is considered yelling. Try using italics for emphasis instead?

Just a thought. :P

Oh Brandegoris you are not the only one! Rae and I both have to pull ourselves back so we are just not talking to each other allll day on the public forums! haha
. I think it could depend on what time of day you get on too. If you are on during the day there is not as much activity as there is at nights.

There is a whole enormous and heated discussion in the Book 14 Spoiler thread so hop on over there if you want to take part in a lively discussion. I have to admit all the lengthy posts are making my head spin at this point but if you're looking for excitement you are sure to find it there!

So, I tried reading the opening post out loud. I was afraid my neighbor would ask what all the shouting was about. :pleased-1:

Brandegoris, you're a pretty cool guy (judging from the few topics I've seen you post in), and your enthusiasm is definitely awesome, but as Ninya Sedai said, there's some forum etiquette (or netiquette) to keep in mind to make your posts more likely to be read and responded to.

Capslock is definitely not cruise control for cool. And while I myself use it for emphasis at times, it's best to use it sparingly. If you were talking out loud and would actually yell or say that particular word louder than the rest, then caps is probably fine. If not, bold or italics or even *asterisks* work really well. I find it hard to read your posts sometimes because I keep changing the pitch of your words in my head and it's a little discombobulating. :P

Your enter key is your friend. Separate your ideas into different paragraphs to make it easier for people to follow your posts. You don't have to use traditional 5 sentence paragraphs or anything, but putting an extra line between different parts of your posts helps people see where the breaks in your ideas are and avoids "wall o'text" or "TL;DR" syndrome.

Also, please know that I'm trying to be helpful here and not trying to get you down or anything. Like I said, you seem like a fun dude. I thought maybe you're not used to hanging out on forums (or at least, on civilized forums), so it's good to be in the know about these things.

Absolutely, and thank you. I certainly do not usually hang out on forums. :) I am only here on this one because i love these books! :) Unfortunately for those who know me in real life i often DO talk like i write! :) not Loudly necessarily, just with a lot of emphasis on certain words. LOL Im probably a lil too exuberant.
But thank you for the advice. I certainly dont want to turn anyone off here. I want to contribute and have people be comfortable to reply to me :)

Brandegoris - I applaud you and the way you handled the constructive criticism you received here. Your last post clearly indicates that you've taken the suggestions to heart and are genuinely interested in communicating with the other member of this site. Following nettiquette doesn't mean your online voice/personality needs to be sacrificed. As a matter of fact, I think I got a better idea of who you are from the last post than from your first few.

I think you are going to make a wonderful addition to tv.net.

Welcome. :)

Please stick around, I love your enthusiastic, excited and open/up-for-it personality!! :)

The fact that you can handle constructive criticism/feedback is huge.

One great thing about forums is that I can read a thread and come back to it later after I've had time to think. I don't have to respond right away. Also don't take it personally if people don't reply to your threads. I've definitely started some topics that didn't go anywhere. That's life, it happens. Post/participate in some topics others have started and try to get a read on the way discussions work here. Certainly don't give up, just try again. :)

Another reason some of your threads might not be seeing the traffic you'd like: they're in the least-used forms. The forums for the older books aren't super active, and also some of your (awesome and enjoyable!) threads about the Foresaken are in the WoT News section...yet they don't really qualify as news. It's okay, we've all made mistakes like that before but definitely try and post in the appropriate forums. Once you're a citizen more will open up (including one full of games and silliness) but even before that happens read the descriptions and just try and put threads where they belong.

:cheeseeni:

Oh, and try italics instead of CAPS. That's what I do. I overuse italics all the time but italics are less distracting/annoying than caps for the other people here...if you overuse italics nobody will really care. Well, unless you go WAYYY overboard :P

Band, I agree you have taken the suggestions well. I too tend to get very passionate about things, especially the book series, trust me I get into a lot of defending them "fights" with my friends locally, all of whom tease me about how "bad" they think they are.

But typing like you talk might be part of why you have found a bit of resistance.

Also as pointed out, our most likely to be active forum is the Memory of Light book forum (for those you can see), so if you've already read that book, it'll be a great place to start out, our others might have been discussed, theorized so much that mostly our regulars might not talk in those forums as much. But I am sure AMoL is still pretty active!
