I just bought some new fabric scissors and WOW. I didn't know I needed new ones until I bought some (I lost my good pair so bought some new, then found my "good" pair).

If you have good quality scissors that get dull, a knife sharpener can generally sharpen them again. Once time I got a wee notch in my scissors after accidentally trying to cut through a pin, and they were able to grind that out.

Some quilt shops offer the service too. My favorite one here does.
