I've finished the series and have been mulling over some things.

During the Battle in Tel'aran'rhiod Mesaana puts an a'dam around Egwene's neck. She (Egwene) finally realises that since she is in TAR it isn't truly real and thus makes it 'disappear'. In book 5? Moghedien and Nynaeve have an encounter in TAR which ends up with Moghedien in an a'dam. Moghedien seems very knowledgeable of TAR for example ripping Birgitte out of TAR and saying she could turn Nynaeve into a horse if she wanted to. So why wouldn't Moghedien realise she could remove the a'dam since it wasn't really 'real'?

She was scared so it made the a'dam appear more 'real' than it actually was. Shouldn't she of realised that she could just remove it since it wasn't actually 'real'; her fear was making it seem so?

Am I making the assumption that Moghedien is more knowledgeable/powerful in TAR than she really is?

Maybe Nynaeve's will that the a'dam be real was stronger than Moghedien's will that it be not real?

You make a good point though Zanus.
Personally I like to think Egwene had a unique perspective of TAR, due to her Aiel Wise One training, something that Moghedien lacked as she was more traditionally trained. Big part of the Aiel ways is embracing fear and pain. Moghedien's strength lies more in believing she can manipulate and control things around her, but if she believed or feared that Nynaeve may very well be capable of besting her, it would create it's own reality.
Dunno.. it's all just conjecture really, but it makes sense to me in a way.

I was chatting to my friend and he shared the same view as you Inanna Sedai.

It's the mark of a good series though having questions and thoughts after the series has finished. I'll have to reread it sometime.

When did Lanfear try to kill Egwene?

It was at the end of book 5 i believe, when
Lanfear puts that painful killing weave on Egwene and Aveindha after she hears a rumour that Rand has been sleeping with them. Egwene was caught in it a little longer than Aveindha and almost dies. Despite surviving, she still suffers aftereffects for months.

The Cairhien docks incident targeted Aviendha. Almira's remark had me thinking that Lanfear targeted Egwene for assassination outside the docks incident.

Lanfear came at the end of battle between Asmodeon and Rand in Rhuidean. Rand lied to her even though it hurt him.
"But keeping Lanfear's fangs out of Egwene and Moiraine,-away from Aviendha and anyone else close to him, that was worth a little pain."
I got the feeling that Rand was worried for Egwene...

Oh, my understanding is that he was worried in general about Lanfear's fearsome jealousy. He knew that if she got a hint of him caring for another woman, said woman would be dead or worse (e.g. Isendre). And she did give him a mark on his chest when she entered his dream of swimming with Min, Elayne, and Aviendha :)

Aviendha may have been her target but she didn't know which one (between Egwene and Aviendha) was actually Aveindha, so she lashed out at both, almost killing Egwene in the process. And i'm not sure about the assassination thing, i don't remember anything like that, but it's possible, knowing Lanfear.

I think you're right here. The comment from the end of the battle in Rhuidean was Rand just worrying that if Lanfear knew, she would go after Egwene

Yeah, Lanfear would have "Kadere'ed" any woman she suspected of having Rand's affections; where that be Egwene, Aviendha, Min, Elayne, Isendra, Siuan, Sorilea, ....

My take on the the dock incident is that it should have been the end of Aviendha's arch. I'd have expected Lanfear to extract an exact description of Aviendha from Karede before he was peeled alive. And she would have recognized the taller, red-haired, green-eyed one. I'm pretty sure if GRRM was writing this series, Rand's women would have all died before the bonding, especially Elayne and Aviendha who courted death as if it were Rand in the flesh. Min may not have been exposed to the same degree of danger though. But I guess RJ wanted all three to survive the Last Battle and keep Rand's company ;)
