The confusing thing for me was that they abbreviated Judkins' name to RJ, so an immediate takeaway is that there is one heck of a coincidence with both the screenwriter and the author having the same initials!

Yeah, there's a reason we used his full name. :P

If I'd had the chance, I'd like to have asked if they kept in mind what happens in future books when they decide to merge/omit characters, or drop plotlines, as we have seen from other series that doing some of these things because they make one book easier to film can cause problems later on.

True enough, Toral. Anything can happen over many years in a large Hollywood production, but at least on Rafe's part it sure does sound like he's a true blue devoted fan of the series. Maybe not quite to the level of some our best Browns here at the Tower, but he was speaking pretty fluently off the cuff, and in real time, about later scenes and characters that felt authentic.

I guess there's always the possibility someone was in the room feeding him lines, though. What can ya do? :p

I think it definitely helps that the series is finished, so at least we know which characters are important and which are easier to drop. At some point during the Q&A he did mention that he was looking forward to the characters who play a small part in the beginning of the series but then grow into larger roles (such as Elaida). His concerns there were more about contracts and logistics.

But that tells me that he is thinking about how characters are presented throughout the whole series and not just the early books.

UPDATE: Rafe has clarified this and stated that he is "much more interested in polyamory than polygamy." This leads us to believe that Aviendha, Elayne, Min, andRand will all be in a relationship with oneanother, instead of the three womenhaving their own relationship with Rand.

Yaaaaaas!

As a polyish person myself, I would be STOKED to see this. As long as it's done well, anyway.
