Ignoring Users

Are we no longer able to block members? I was trying to sort this out today and couldn't find the options - but I acknowledge I could have been looking in the wrong places.

Related, are there some admin levels we aren't allowed to block?

Yeah, I was using bad terminology, I was looking for ignore - which is apparently just for plebs. Doesn't look like you can ignore non-membership admins, for example.

Depending how the permissions are set, I think there may be trouble about ignoring moderators of any sort, and I know you can't ignore supermods.

Ignoring is one-direction only. If an admin/mod has a user ignored, the ignored user would still see everything posted by the mod/admin.

Apologies for bumping this, Qamra, but I'm unfamiliar with xenforo unfortunately. With Ignoring being one-directional, all it really does is remove the ignored individual's content from your sightline, nothing else? Like a mute button? Or does it also affect who can message you?

Don’t be sorry! It’s a function of the forum so it’s good to understand what things do and if it’s useful to you!

It does affect messages. I actually just tested this and the ignored user messaged me and I dont see it in my messages (nor do I have a message notification). If it is a group message, I would assume it acts the same as posts in the thread where you wouldn’t see ignored users posting.

Note: when using this feature, if an ignored person posts on the boards, you will see a “show ignored content” button At the bottom of the page.

NB: I used a test account. I don’t actively ignore anyone here!

I think it would be beneficial to have a way to have that collapsed option for folks in threads, regardless of their Tower position - but as the current system affects messages, I'll file that under pipe dream.
