After more than 13 years at this position, Eniara Sedai will be stepping down as Assistant to the Director of Research and Records. I would like to thank her for her enormous dedication to the department and for all the work she has put in! The next person chosen definitely has big shoes to fill.

After some deliberation, I decided to add some changes to this position and give opportunity for more people to serve as my assistant in time. It was mentioned in the volunteering thread in Community Feedback that some sort of "apprenticeship" might be best for people to gain more confidence and knowledge about certain positions. My hope is that this opportunity might serve as some sort of "experience" if you will, not really an "apprenticeship" per se. With that said, I decided for this position to transition into a 12 month rotation term.

Overview
The Assistant to the Director of Research and Records is a staff role in the Department of Research and Records. They are responsible for aiding the Director of Research and Records with organizing and, sometimes, leading different projects within the Department.

This is a 12 month rotating staff position in the Department of Research and Records and time and effort spent in the position is counted towards the Staff merit.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may vary depending on the needs and desires of the Director.

The main duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in the brainstorming, planning, and execution stages of projects within the department.
- Overseeing the Editors and giving them tasks when necessary.
- Bringing coffee and croissants to the Director.
- Editing the TarValon.Net Library.

Expectations
- Must be an active member in good standing with the community.
- Must know Wiki formatting or be willing to learn.
- Regular communication with the Director is expected for smooth work.

Time Commitment
Variable. Dependent on expectations of current Director, but expect at least two to three hours per week, some weeks less or more.

Qualifications
- Must have been a member of the site for at least six months.
- Anyone of any rank or position may apply.
- Familiarity with the site Library is preferable.
- Must be well-organized and a self-starter.
