Hello everyone,

My name is Zingus and I just finished the wheel of time!! I mean technically I am reading New Spring right now, but I have read the main 14 and loved it. I found some questions in another thread that will introduce me further.

  • Who is your favorite character in The Wheel of Time and why?
    • Matrim "Mat" Cauthon. Ik basic, but he has a cool name and always the most exciting chapters.
      His "power" being luck is insane. Whenever those dice got to spinning in his head, I KNEW stuff was about to go down. It was such a great way to keep readers engaged and excited to hear his perspective.
  • How did you find TarValon.Net?
    • I needed the library to keep track of names and relationships. It was a big help, and I loved that it was raw HTML with hyperlinked to every character or group in each chapter. Very reminiscent of Wikipedia which was perfect and functional
  • What do you do? (student? job? hobbies?)
    • I am a recent Comp Sci grad (looking for a job if ur hiring). I like to read, lift, play and watch soccer, run long distance, play chess, game, and pretty much anything competitive.
  • Where are you from? What languages do you speak?
    • I'm from MN and speak English
  • Have you seen Wheel of Time on Prime? Did you enjoy the show? (Again, remember spoiler tags)
    • No and I haven't heard great things. I will watch it eventually and we will see, but rn it isn't a priority.
  • What is your favorite book or author other than Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time?
    • This is so tough because they are all so good. I would probably say Lord of Chaos was a top one. New Spring is also so good and a great refresher after the very serious final books from the main story line. I loved ALL the Sanderson continuations and, don't hate me, but they are definitely some of the best in the series.

Mat fans UNITE! I felt like Brandon Sanderson brought even more life to Mat just like he did everyone else. The last books solidified him as a favorite for me. Even though Mat can be a little rude and objectifying at times, he has a good moral compass for things that really matter,
and he carried everyone on his back during tarmon gai'don I SAID IT!! Not like sleepyhead Perrin lolol jkjk.

I was rooting for USA but we had a disappointing last game, still proud of what we have done we just couldn't put it together. Other than that I am a big messi fan and am also rooting for Norway since they are having a historic run too. It's hard to see the players I grew up watching like Modric, Ronaldo, Neymar, Ochoa, Neuer, and eventually Messi retire. But it has to happen eventually.

I find this opinion fascinating (in a good way). This is the opposite of how a lot of Mat fans I know feel, myself included. But I love to hear opposing view points on especially my favorite things, because diversity makes the world go round and keeps things interesting. If you haven't already, you should check out some of the book discussion threads and add your own opinions!

Ugh, that last USA game was devastating. No other word for it. We'd played well up until then, but just fell apart. I'm also a big Messi fan!! The Argentina game yesterday had me on pins and needles, but they pulled it out.
It's crazy to think that this World Cup is the end of an era and thus the start of a new one. I wonder what stars will shine next time once the big names have retired! (I hope we still have at least a few more seasons of Messi in MLS, though.)
