Hello and welcome to Tar Valon :joy My favorite book of the series was book 5. I can't wait to hear your thoughts as you move deeper into the books. It's quote a journey :) Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions, or if you just want to talk.

Oh, another Aiel fan yes! :joy Welcome to Tar Valon!

Thank you!

Welcome to Tar Valon, Blythe!! It’s lovely to have your here! :yes

I love V.E. Schwab and Samantha Shannon!! I actually have a signed poster of Priory though I still haven’t read it yet. :look:

I love reading about history too!! What’s your favorite time period? And if you like medical and history, you might like the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.

Thank you! Priory is a very hefty book but it is so good and I love the characters. The story really keeps you on your toes and guessing about what's going to happen.

My favorite time periods are the 20s, the Victorian era, and The Edwardian era. I love the fashions and the innovations that come from those eras. I gave the Outlander show a try and found it a bit slow but I've eyed the books numerous times and considered giving those a try. Would you say they're better? I liked the concept of it but the pacing of the show was a bit too slow for me.

Welcome to Tar Valon! I am SO EXCITED that you're getting to read The Shadow Rising for the first time--it's truly a classic. And I'm definitely interested to hear more about your rocks and minerals!

Thank you! What would you like to know? I'm no expert by any means and it's a hobby I've only had for a couple years. With Covid I haven't been able to go to any shows. They're always so crowded that even with masks I wouldn't feel comfortable going

Thank you! I definitely look forward to sharing my thoughts and journey as I go along through the story. I plan to try getting through all in one go but I am worried about flagging so I'm still thinking I might read something else in between when I reach halfway through and then read the other half. I don't want to burn myself out but I don't think that'll happen

:welcome I'm so glad you found us!

Regarding the Outlander books, I LOVE them. <3 That being said, if you find the show a bit slow, then you may find the books the same way. I suggest giving Book 1 a try. If you like it, you can continue, and if you feel it is too slow, you can call it quits there. I will say that the show has done a very good job of pulling the main plot from each book and accurately reflecting it on the screen, with only a few changes. So you can get a really good feel for the entire series by watching the show, and simply add more details and side plots by reading the books.

Thank you! Oh gosh, that's so hard to pick because I have so many I love in it. Overall I'd say all my agates are my favorites. They're so pretty to look at and come in such a wide variety. It's the one I collect the most of. My silica carbide is another favorite because it's the first bigger piece I ever bought and it has so many colors in it

I like agates! Dendritic agate is probably my favourite of those. I tend to lean towards things that have a bit of sparkle or do something cool when light hits them, like labradorite or selenite but ah... I just really like pretty rocks. Is silica carbide the one that looks a bit like oil spilled on asphalt?

It's weird but I tend to do better with reading a slow book and I will always give any book a try to see how I like it. I'll definitely give them a try in the future. It could also have been it's not really the show I was in the mood for at the time so I'll give the show another try. I want to give it a fair chance.

Welcome to Tar Valon, Blythe! We’re happy to have you here. :)

Thank you!

Welcome to Tar Valon! I hope you enjoy book 4. Learning more about the Aiel civilization included many of my favourite parts of this series. I'm excited in your behalf!

ROCK TALK (yes, I'm pronouncing this such that they rhyme)!!!

Raising my hand as a member of the "I just really like pretty rocks" club. My husband has a geology degree and I've always been a mineral nerd, so we've got a few minerals around that make me very very happy. I also like the ones that do cool things in the light, Delara! We've got a labradorite that is my favorite of our (tiny) collection.

Blythe, usually I express a desire for people to post pictures of their adorable critters, but I will expand that to note that I, for one, would LOVE to see pictures of your cool rocks. No pressure!! I'm just saying!!! But really, welcome! :D

Welcome to Tar Valon Blythe!!! I too encourage cool rock pictures! I teach elementary science but you can easily hook students of any age into science with cool rocks.

I've never heard of dendritic agate but it looks so cool! I love all the variances in them. My favorite agates are crazy lace and Botswana agate. The patterns and colors in them are so beautiful. I have quite a few jaspers as well. If you like ones with sparkle you would like is this obsidian type with mica in it that makes it look like a small galaxy and is very pretty but I can't remember what it's proper name is. Peacock ore is another one that has really pretty shifting colors. Hypersthene isn't as flashy but it has a really nice sheen in the light. Yes, that is silica carbide! I love all the shifting colors of it.

Thank you! I've been wanting to learn more about the Aiel every time just a little more has popped up about them.

I would love to share pictures of my critters and rocks! I'll have to go through them and take some new photos of them. I'd love to share. I don't remember all the names for them since I threw out all their little identification cards in a flurry of cleaning and some I don't even know what they are but chose them because they're very pretty.

I'll definitely check out the first one when I finish reading WoT!
Welcome! Where in Florida are you? I lived in Tampa Bay until 2020.

I'm in Fleming Island which is a pretty small area that's unincorporated. It's a pretty nice little area but lacking in much to do other than the local movie theater. I'm such a homebody though that I don't mind
