Hi Zeela, welcome! :pleased-1: I’d love to know more about your vodka infusions, that sounds so cool. Favorite and least favorite flavors you’ve done so far?

Welcome! I'm a huge excel nerd as well

This is nowhere near too much! You seem like you will fit in seamlessly around here, I say as a fellow spreadsheet enthusiast. It's really good to have you, and I hope you enjoy exploring around. Do you have any questions right off the bat that we can help you with?

Yay Zeela - delighted to see you posted a thread!

I'm also a big excel enthusiast, and love singing. I want to say I love hiking but I don't think I'm fit enough for it so I'll phrase more accurately for me - I love long walks on gentle hills

Welcome to Tar Valon!

Do you have a favourite type of bonsai or do you love all the tiny trees equally? I'd love a little Hawthorn but I'm terrified of murdering it :rofl

Another Pern and Pratchett fan, yay! Welcome!

I dabble in infused vodka too (mostly just lemon and plum, since I have very prolific trees). I'd love to hear more about what you've tried and what your favorite has been!

Welcome Zeela! As someone that loves sour cherries and fejoias infused with vodka... excited to hear new ideas! Also, love gardning, dnd (I'm new though), hiking, bellydancing (its been a few years though), reading and gaming. So looking forward to seeing you in discord and chatting! :pleased-1:

I just figured out what the little icon meant that I had been tagged in a post, I’m not ignoring everyone on purpose! Hopefully I can get this multi-tag thing to work.

One of my favorites so far is Pandaren Rice Pudding. It uses Arborio rice, so it's basically a risotto using milk instead of broth. I'm not sure how to link just the image but here's the photo on my instagram. I have also done croissants, conjured mana strudel, Winter Veil cookies, red bean buns, Ironforge rations (got brave and went with real haggis), and plenty more.

My favorite is definitely Vanilla Mint vodka - I use spearmint leaves from my garden. Habanero was another great one - crazy spicy and paired well with mango juice. My least favorite have been basil (turns out I don't want to drink pesto after all) and blueberry-lavender which sounded amazing but was really unpleasant. I just got butterfly pea flowers and I'm looking forward to making some that's bright blue and some that's purple using the flowers as coloring.

@Delara Morellin I love all the tiny trees. I've definitely killed my share, but all of them teach me important things. I like to buy trees at garden centers for cheap and train them into bonsais, which takes many years but is a nice cost-savings from buying them already grown. I have a bunch of maples right now too that I planted from seed a year or two ago, and all the new spring leaves are SO exciting!

@Elania al'Manir Alliance, although I have one Horde who I leveled to see the Battle For Azeroth from both perspectives. I can't stick to a single main, so I play Paladin / DK / Hunter as my three mains, and also have Warlock / Druid / Priest / Mage / Monk. ... maybe a little obsessed. Maybe.

Welcome Zeela!! I hope you enjoy it here!
Omg, you have so many cool hobbies! Bonsai and fantasy recipes in particular. I'd love to see your fantasy cookbook once it's finished!!

Portland is my favorite city in the US. It's so beautiful. What was your journey to learning Spanish and Japanese? Those are also the languages I've learned (although it's been years since I've gotten a chance to really speak either), and I'm always curious what draws people to the languages they learn.

Thanks! Spanish I started out with in high school, because a non-English language was a graduation requirement and that's the only class that fit into my schedule. Also my mom spoke it frequently, since she taught in a bi-lingual preschool classroom. She would practice at home all the time so I picked up quite a bit that way. Japanese I learned in college, not in class but because the guy I was dating was super into anime. We ended up starting a Japanese Cultural Appreciation club where a bunch of us students watched a huge amount of anime at weekly meetings, all in Japanese with English subtitles. Between that and the club members who already spoke it, I picked up enough of the language to do okay when I eventually visited Japan for a couple of weeks. After college, Mom talked to me in Spanish and I'd reply in Japanese and my sisters had no idea what was going on. :)

@Zeela Graystone , these sound fascinating...and that photo looks delicious. I'm not the best cook (I do make a great omelet), but I'm an adventurous taster!
