"Funds reallocation fee: Any funds that are not specifically marked for an event or a specific special donation will be assumed to be a donation to the Tower's operating budget. Any event payment or special donation that is not clearly marked with the sender's Tower name and the intention of the payment (ie, for 10th Anni, etc) will be subject to a $20 funds reallocation fee. Full credit for the event or donation will not be given until this fee is paid, which may result in the cancellation of an event registration. It is the responsibility of the sender to clearly and adequately mark all funds sent to TarValon.net. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Chief Financial Officer. You may email Shatayan@tarvalon.net with pertinent information."
Gather 'round boys and girls and let Uncle Riley talk to you for a minute.
From time to time we get a lot of traffic of payments coming in both through Paypal and through regular snail mail. All of these payments have to be credited toward the correct budget, whether it be an event, or a special donation (such as those gathered by us for Padra Sedai this past summer), and they have to be accounted for in our ledger. It is a large inconvenience to get a payment that is not marked, and then have to track down from whom this payment might be from. From time to time we even get payments from a third party for someone, and particularly if they are not clearly marked (it's happened, boys and girls), we have no frickin' clue what to do with those funds. Also, as we're still pursuing non-profit status, we have to behave as if we already have it, and the IRS is very strict about how money is handled. So. This is why we're instituting this policy. It's not to be mean, it's not because Uncle Riley is on a power trip, it's to encourage you to please take the time to dot your i's and cross your t's and help me out. As stated exceptions can be made on a case by case basis. Because stuff happens. Say, you make your payment for tenth anni through Paypal, and you're thinking "Wow, I'm not sure if I got my name on it." So you go check, and then you go "Oh crap! I didn't!" What you do is you email me at shatayan@tarvalon.net, explain what happened, give me all the information you should have given me when you made your payment, and it's all good. Timely and clear communication will cover a multitude of sins. I promise.
