On behalf of the Board of Directors:
It is with great sadness that we announce that after more than two years in her position, Ubahsur Sedai has decided to step down as Shatayan/CFO. She took a position that was in a very difficult spot and turned it around. She’s responsible for our more professional procedures with regards to our finances, and she’s made them streamlined and easy to understand, even for those of us who don’t have backgrounds in corporate finances. The Board is incredibly appreciative of everything she’s done, and we wish her all the best in her retirement to just a “normal” Aes Sedai (whatever that means for her
).
This means, though, that we are in the position of needing to find another Shatayan. This is an Officer-level position, taking on the role of Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer. It is important that applicants have some level of experience with corporate finances, either through professional accounting or bookkeeping experience. You will need to be extremely detail-oriented and self-motivated.

Hard requirements:
- Professional experience as an accountant or equivalent bookkeeping experience, including experience with accounting principles and basic accounting knowledge/skills such as accounting software, online banking, and preparing financial reports.
- A background check will be required for this position.
- Must be a legal resident authorized to work in the United States.
Soft requirements:
- Previous experience in an admin job with TarValon.Net is a plus since you'll be working across different departments and closely with the other Officers and Department Directors.
- A member in good standing at TarValon.Net for at least 1 year. Please note that there is no requirement for Senior Membership for this position; it is more important that you have the financial experience necessary than that you have a specific length of membership here. If you've been a member for 10 months and have all the other requisites, please still apply!
Major responsibilities include:
- Manage accounts payable & receivable including tracking fundraising.
- Preparation of internal financial statements, budgets, cash flow, monthly reconciliations, projections & forecasts for the Officers and Board of Directors.
- Assist event planners (Mistresses of Revels, Official Event Local Liaisons) in developing budgets and financial processes (contracts, etc.) for official events.
- Manage day-to-day administrative tasks and filing of insurance, legal, taxes, and governmental reports as required for US non-profit organizations.
- Supervise internal control processes & provide reports as required.
- Responsible for coordination of the financial annual report.
- Participate with other Officers/Board of Directors in evolving financial processes.
- Assist in financial evaluation of charities for inclusion in TarValon.Net official fundraising efforts.
