Followers/Following Function!

We had a report of someone having lost some followers or people they were following in the update last weekend and has talked to others who say the same.

This function wasn't touched in the last update according to all the patch notes, nor was the database changed, so I can honestly say I have no idea how this happened, but as we have multiple reports, something definitely was affected.

So check your following, and refollow anyone you may have lost.

Both changed for me when we switched to Xenforo 2.0. I don't really use the function though so didn't think much about it

Yes, it happened for me a while ago, that I lost the people I followed. I didn't even think of the switch to 2.0 as the cause but that makes sense.

Huh, I wonder if that was the cause in this case as well and that maybe it just wasn't noticed until this last one. Going from 1.x to 2.x was a much larger jump and could definitely have had some wonkies with it. It would definitely have been a little less surprising (though still unexpected ).

It's not a big deal, I just have a bad memory so I don't remember who was following me and who I followed. For some reason it completely wiped out my followers and followed.

Could someone please explain the purpose of following someone? Like what does it actually do?

When they make a post I think it gives you a notification in threads you have previously posted in, I know it does on a tech site I go to, when I follow someone there. I think it is a way to keep up with your friends.

Maybe not how it works here though.

Some people have their profile information restricted to people they are following so following/being followed is important for that
