I think it's exciting that there's so many plausible and valid theories to this.

Ha! Yes, agreed. I keep watching the trailer and thinking things like, "well OBVIOUSLY (xyz) is what is happening in this scene," when we truly have no idea. For all we know, in the TV show, Egwene becomes Empress of Seanchan, Nynaeve truly believes that Logain is the Dragon Reborn, and there's an entire season focused on, like, Alanna joining the Sea Folk or something. I mean, we can HOPE not, but they certainly could do deeply bizarre things. Right now, we're in a delightful liminal space in which everything is possible, and the speculation and decoding is super fun. All I know is that the trailer gives me the impression that they're treating the source material with deep respect, and so if they mess this up, I'm gonna be extra mad about it. :D

I am firmly of the belief that it is a dream.

I see it happening as this:
Nynaeve pushes her in, she realizes fighting the current does no good, surrenders to it (fortelling her working with the one power). Something troubling happens that results in her being forced under the water. She emerges in a cave with the Ajah colors painting her (fortelling you know what), around her stands familiar faces and faces she doesn’t know, perhaps fortelling some dilemma later on. Something dramatic will happen, she will wake with a jolt, it will be the morning of Winter’s Night, and she will be rushes out of bed before giving it much thought.

anyhow, that’s how I’m calling it, we’ll see when it airs.

As someone who has freshly ready the first 3 books, it was my interpretation that Nynaeve pushing Egwene off the cliff was symbolic of the first time Egwene discovered she could channel. I imagined this was Emond's field and they were kids and the flowing river was representative of the flow of the one power Egwene was learning to embrace. I thought the multi colored water could be the different Ajahs Egwene would have to choose from.

My pet theory is that they're either part of a dream, or the two scenes aren't actually connected. I could see the first scene being a part of a wisdom initiation rite of some kind, and the second being a take on the accepted test in the Tower.

A new scene from Episode 1 was shared and there Perrin asks Rand about Egwene's ceremony. So I do think there will be some sort of either Wisdom or women business initiation. (cause she wears her hair in a braid )

I agree, the clip sways me more in the initiation direction. My new guess: dipping in the pool with the Ajah colors (which was originally significant due to the Aes Sedai but has morphed into being important on its own) happens first to kick off the initiation process. The final test is jumping off the cliff. We see her dress already has rainbow colors on it, and her hair is braided. Then she floats down the river, has a dreamlike epiphany, whatever. At the end she gets out, goes to her house and dries off and changes, then comes into the Inn where we see Nynaeve happy as she's fully initiated now.
