Hello everyone,

once upon a time, the Editors were an official Tower staff position, but eventually, to give the Editors more freedom, it became defunct and people who weren't previous official Editors could also edit the Library.

During my tenure the last year and a half, I have noticed that some people might get unmotivated without any real guidance or goals or projects to work on. Because of that, we have decided to bring back the position in the Department of Research and Records.

The Editors will basically do what was expected of them until this point, but with the added benefit of being a part of the department and work on specific projects. However, if you do not want to work on specific projects, you are still welcome to edit the Library.

With that said, let me introduce you the position:

The Editor is a staff role in the Department of Research and Records. They are responsible for proofreading and fixing mistakes and inconsistencies throughout all Wheel of Time articles in the TarValon.Net library.

This is a non-rotating staff position in the Department of Research and Records and time and effort spent in the position is counted towards the Editing merit.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Editors are the people responsible to edit the writers' copy of all Wheel of Time articles in the Library (book or television series). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Adherence to the Manual of Style for consistency throughout the articles.
- Finding articles that need copy editing or restructuring.
- Researching the books when references are missing or incorrect.
- Must check-in with the Department Director occasionally or whenever a project is finished.

- Must be a member of at least one month and be of Citizen rank or higher.
- Must know Wiki formatting or be willing to learn. A wiki account will be created for you and you will be expected to supply an email address.

Time Commitment
To get credit for the Editing merit and be considered as an active editor, you will need to make edits to at least 20 (different) pages in three months.

- Must be knowledgeable of the English language or be willing to advance their knowledge, since it is a big part of the editing process.
- Must know how to follow a Manual of Style, since it is a big part of the editing process.

If you are interested in the position, and this hiring post will be open for a while, could be a month or two, please email library@tarvalon.net and archivist@tarvalon.net with the application subject "EDITOR - YOUR NAME HERE" with any information about why you want to be an Editor and please include if you have any previous experience with wiki editing and/or a wiki account.

If anyone has any questions regarding this position, please reach out to me!

Thank you!
