If we made our own skin would we be allowed to have it added?

@Mendo Cath

We were discussing something similar for the City. Could we do a quarterly seasonal theme just for those citizen boards?

So its going to be a topic in the upcoming exec meeting. Themes in general are a topic that has come up a bit recently.

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll put an adjacent topic here.

The default link format is not accessible. Hyperlinks should be underlined and a distinct color to indicate what they are. This is what they look like right now:
https://www.wikipedia.org

When integrated into normal text like this, they've been missed by members multiple times, including in Site Announcements.

Request: Change the default formatting of hyperlinks to be underlined at a minimum, and preferably a color with more contrast to the default plain text color so that they look like this or similar.

Check out Black Ajah theme and tell me if that's what you mean?
If so I can put it up for a change but...

FakeLink

My issue is that the change is not applied consistently..
So right now I'm in preview of this message its not underlined for my link but in the text editor it is now and I think in existing posts it is.. I might be able to find where the preview is pulling its text format from but..

I'm sure this is something we will run into in other areas of the theme formatting across the site...

A number of people (in forums I was reading about template changes for links) just put an override into the template extra.css but we are attempting not to change the core site CSS templates as much as we can as they can break when updates/upgrades are done to the forum software and we have to find and recreate or find a new way to duplicate what was done before causing more complications to upgrades.

My biggest issue with the Black Ajah theme is on mobile..when I type in the Search box.. it types in white on white..which means I can't see what I've typed. And while that only happens on mobile, I'm on my iPad a LOT and use search all the time..so it's made me have to abandon the theme :(

Yes, your link appears underlined when I switch to the Black Ajah theme, and that's enough for me personally to differentiate. The "best practice" is technically also making it a distinctly different color (I think there's a minor difference currently) to further differentiate it from regular underlined text.

And yes, the links do currently appear differently when in the editor compared to the final post. The link formatting is also overriding color formatting in final posts, as my inline link in the post above is supposed to be blue but I only see a blue underline with the current lighter gray text.

this is not pink to me even though it's formatted that way (I checked the BB editor). I also tried using a link I've never visited before (and still haven't visited, I pulled it from a Google listing without clicking through) to see if that would affect it, and it does not seem to.

Can I override the default link formatting by switching the tag order so color is nested inside url instead of vice-versa? wikipedia again - yes.

Speaking for one that wants a true dark mode skin, now that I'm on my computer, the Black Ajah mode is not dark enough. On my phone I have Samsung internet dark mode and Black Ajah skin on and it's very blessedly dark (black bg and white letters on everything) and I would love something like that for the full site as well. When I write tvt articles it's on the computer but I have limits on how long I can deal with the brightness due to my eye situation and I would love to have a true dark mode for the full site :love

Yeah I was just using the Black Ajah theme to test as I wasn't going to YOLO a change to the main site theme. :D

Black Ajah theme is not the dark mode theme that everyone is asking for..
It was intended for just the event.. we just opted not to remove it for now as a stand-in until we do something else long term. More on that to come :D
