For the record, I wanted to clarify how this hiring process worked.

When hiring opened, I immediately informed Lireina and Sa that I would have no part in it, due to my conflict of interest. I suspected Nethanel would apply, so I recused myself from the process immediately. While I received applications, I did not read them. I asked that I not be copied on the discussion about the applicants, and I wasn't. I had no input whatsoever in the selection process, and I was as surprised as Nethanel when he received the email offering him the position.

Should anyone have concerns about the integrity of the hiring process, whether for this position or any other, I hope you would feel comfortable approaching the hiring director or their supervising Officer (Keeper or Archivist) or myself.
