Hi!

I'm Leonie al'Adarna. Never introduced myself with a Randland name before it feels strange and exciting. I just started rereading the books this year. And fell in love with the series again! I started the series in the early nineties and stopped at Crown of Swords. I became overwhelmed with the amount of characters. Then I went to university and had no time for fun reading. I forgot all about the series until I read of Robert Jordan's passing. After hearing this, I felt so sad and nostalgic for my teen years reading WoT. Finally I got back into reading it and will finish the series. Its so great having these internet sites while re-reading this series. Back in the 90's there wasn't much. Its amazing what I remember and forgot such as the dragon prophet and Tanchico. Don't worry about spoilers with me. The cat has already left that bag.

I really would love to go to JordanCon or another group meet up because I really don't know anyone else that has read the series. More about myself, I taught Art History at university for several years and recently left to change careers. I know way too much about esoteric medieval artwork. I moved back to my hometown, Austin, TX. Its so different now. I never thought of myself as aligning to any Aes Sedai but as a Windfinder or Wise One. Favorite countries- Borderlands or the Waste. Love the desert and the sea! My favorite characters are Birgitte, Mat, Lolial, Lan, and Nynaeve.

Cheers!

Hi and welcome :) It's great that you came back to the series and be sure you will enjoy them to the end :P You will see we are a joyful community and love having fun (you will especially notice it if you attend a live event). Who is your favourite artist? I am in love with art in general so it's fantastic to have someone who used to teach Art History, which I hope to study one day when I am old and retired and just want to enjoy my hobbies

Hi Leonie, and welcome to Tar Valon. :D I'm working on a re-read myself (second time to read through the whole series, don't know how many times I've read 1-8  ), and I've realized, too, that I've forgotten so much and that they're just so good. :pleased-1:

I could fill pages but my favorite artists are from the 14th century such as Ambrogio Lorenzetti. He unfortunately died of the plague but left this beautiful fresco for the Sienese government to ponder the effects of just rule versus tyranny. This image is from the effects of good government.

I have to admit, this is the first time I hear about him, but that looks absolutely stunning. :brown-blink:

Welcome, Leonie! I love that painting. It's the cover illustration for one of my favourite historical novels, Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman. The problem is that the painting definitely does not portray the 13th century Norman aristocracy of Wales. However, the symbolism is excellent because the book is about King John (Robin Hood.....) and his RL outlawed Welsh son-in-law. :giggle
