For the last several years I have been supporting a local non-profit called ClimateRide. They are an organization which specializes in fundraising, teaching volunteers how to fundraise, and does bike-related events several times a year to raise money for their volunteers' preferred, climate-related beneficiaries. This year (this Saturday!), I'm doing a small, local ride (30 miles), and my beneficiaries are two local organizations (a bike shop and a compost org), as well as BeyondFistula. Here's a portion of my blurb from ClimateRide's website.
Freecycles is a community bike shop that teaches classes, provides education and assistance to cyclers, and also functions as a community space!

SoilCycle, Freecycles' next door neighbor, collects locals' compostable materials with volunteers - on bikes! They keep many thousands of pounds out of landfills each year and help we Missoulians to stay as green as possible.

BeyondFistula is the third organization I'm supporting with this ride. BF does absolutely livesaving and lifechanging work, as they provide surgeries for women who are suffering from fistulas in medically underserved areas. Women with fistulas are among some of the most discriminated against populations in the world, are often outcast from their communities, and cannot join society even to work to support themselves. Beyond Fistula repairs these medical problems and trains their patients to re-enter the workforce - and they focus on climate-supporting skills!

[...]

Right now, ClimateRide is in the position to match all funds donated, so your donation will have twice the power!

Is anyone else gearing up for an event soon, or are doing fundraising for a cause of your choice?

This is awesome! And there are some great rides around there (mtb and motorcycle), as well as hiking, fishing, and climbing. It inspires me to see TVN values actualized.

Missoula also has the highest number of nonprofits per capita of any US city, which is really, really cool. It's actually possible here to arrange your everyday life so you support nonprofits just by living. My house pays a small monthly fee to SoilCycle to have access to their compostable materials dropoff points. When I do go out, it's almost always to a FreeCycles-hosted event, and part of my ticket price goes to FreeCycles. I also donate my old bikes and bike gear to FreeCycles. There are coffee shops that support charities, there are nonprofits that run coffee shops, there are bookstores and gear stores and pretty much anything you can think of linked to non-profits 'round here. It's wonderful! With only a little research and care, a lot of my everyday activities sponsor various good causes, on top of my habit of volunteering for every event I see in time.

Hopefully, you can mtb with us at Anni or some other RL event soon. Or maybe we just plan a mtb trip to the Red Rocks of Utah! I'd be happy to guide.

That’d be fantastic!

Slightly less fantastic, it’s 37f/8c and raining instead of 65f/18c and sunny like it was forecast to be when I signed up. :ohnoes: Onwards!

That's really awesome! I've been looking to switching to an eBike for most of my transportation needs. Philly must have some organizations like this; there is a huge bike culture there.
