I know the Board does not have access to any membership groups other than what they belong to.

I remember I had access to the Exec forum and the department forums. I don’t recall having access to the Hall though I suppose I could have missed it. (This is based on my one-month tenure as Board this year.)

They have access to all the regular forums plus admin forums, several department forums, and recently the Hall.

They do not have access to individual membership group forums.

These, plus I can read the hall but not post in it. Though that last one might be because I am the Chairperson. If you are asking if I can see into the private spaces of membership groups, that answer is no. I'm not a member of any membership group, so I can't see any of the sitting rooms etc

It sounds like the addition to read-only for the Hall is recent - how recent, and were the reasons posted anywhere? I admit I read the reports when posted, but often do forget some of the finer details.

I was under the assumption that the Board didn't handle the day-to-day of the site, so it is curious to me why they'd need that access.

I believe I have always had access to view the Hall as part of my liaison responsibilities as Chairman. This is not a recent development for me.

As a former board member and Chair, I didn’t have access to the Hall. The only way to have access would be because Xander had that access prior to becoming Chair. Might be a good idea to review board access for all board members.

What are liaison responsibilities?

Mostly things like :

Facilitating communications between the Board and Officers
Encouraging communications between the Board and Officers
Acting as a point of contact between the Board and Officers
Coordinating meetings between the Board and Officers
Relaying messages from the Board to the Membership when necessary.
