Honestly it depends on the campaign! I think a consistent theme is I enjoy playing a weirder/more monster adjacent character option if it's available ( current characters include a Goliath, Surrakar (anthro-crocodile) and a home brewed bearman)
Oh boy haha. I tend to find myself in a rogue like hole. Many hours in Hades 2, Deep Rock Galactic recently with the new season, put in decent time in a recent Poe2 league.
Favorite recent single player games include Outer Wilds, BG3, Silksong, and Sea of Stars
A Wheel of Time fan who is also current with One Piece???
Clearly you -- like me -- are in it for the long haul when it comes to things with plot. I love it. My other current shounen recommendation to you would be Dandadan. It's rare for me to be blown away by how thoughtful and well-plotted a shounen anime/manga is, but Dandadan really knows it's shounen tropes and builds on them in a super super fun way. And like One Piece, it has incredible and incredibly lovable main and side characters (and side characters who become main characters).

Love Sea of Stars! Chained Echoes is another great indie RPG that reminds me of the SNES era; a bunch of playable characters, and I like the battle system a bit more.
Also really enjoyed Hades, still haven't gotten to the second game though.

I've been in a shonen-esque bubble for the most part. Keeping current with One Piece at the moment but also have enjoyed JJK and MHA, also related I started the Delicious in Dungeon anime which has been delightful and Frieren is in my queue to watch as well
I just finished the first season of Frieren!! Dandadan is on my list as well. And my black cat is Kuro Captain of the Black Cat Pirates (and enjoys living up to the name)

That's excellent! I also enjoy my "monsters," I'm playing a campaign as a team builder at work, the others are all new so I wanted a fun character that could also back them up. I play a centaur blood hunter that's afraid of bees, has a bad case of stress induced IBS, and jumps into things too quickly if it could possible mean saving the innocent (especially children or animals). They're a lot of fun to play
