Welcome back, Talia! I'm also Norwegian and dependent on audibooks  Sure glad they exist!

Let me know if you need any help with the tech stuff :pleased-1:

I was waiting until I had a question, aha! Can you or anyone check if my avatar seems more or less blurry than everyone else's? :)
Hello, Talia! Welcome back to Tar Valon. :pleased-1:

You and I joined in the same year, but I don't quite remember your name... Ah, well, I am looking forward to getting to know you now. You sound so very interesting! I'm also very much into languages.

I'll echo everyone's offers of help if you need it - we're here to answer any questions you might have, and bring you up to speed.

Heya! Yeah, I may have been somewhat unremarkable... :p Haha! It's lovely getting to know you. Languages are really fun. I aim to learn 3 Indigenous languages so that I may offer instructions in those languages while teaching. I love learning them.

Velkommen tilbake!

Tusen takk!

And to everyone else, a huge thank you! ☺️ I'm having a lot of fun so far.

Hi Talia! Nice to meet you and welcome back to Tar Valon :ha

She might not be my favourite but I always felt like Faile got a bit of a rough deal, since the reader didn't just get what she presented to the world in public but also her private thoughts and feelings, translated via her husband. If everyone's dirty laundry was on display all the time, we'd probably think differently about them too.

Welcome back! I'm excited to find someone else who actually really likes Faile - that's definitely a minority opinion around here.

Thank you, Delara!

Absolutely agree. I think it's her interpersonal conflicts and jealousy that made her so believable to me personally, because I have seen these dynamics play out in real life. It was refreshing with a morally grey reflection of stuff I recognized irl. That said, the same reasons are valid reasons not to like her, precisely because those dynamics are tiring to deal with irl and are everywhere in some form or other.

I'm going to revisit the series soon. I'll keep notes of how that perspective changes.

Thank you, Maibella Sedai! Hahah, yeah! I'm thrilled I'm not the only one :P :giggle

Faile is also an interesting look into cross-cultural relationships, which I have a little bit of experience in, both first hand and more long-term second-hand. It's interesting how the same cues can lead to entirely different conclusions and confusion, which is highlighted in the books. Maybe not to everyone's satisfaction, but at least it's an honest attempt!

Welcome back, Talia! And wow, three Sapmi languages? That is really impressive. I live in a Saepmi area (Helgeland) and have thought about trying to learn at least a few South Saepmi words, but it is so difficult! Do you have any ideas of good, simple resources I can use?

Welcome back :) There are quite a few Norwegians on the site, though less than it was once. I can't say I remember you specifically, but I hope you like it here so far :)
