It also strikes me just how isolated Emond's Field is. After Mat, Rand, and Ewin talk to Moiraine and Lan, they debate whether or not Lan is a Warder.

The best part of this conversation is when they conclude he's probably not a Warder because there aren't Trollocs in the Two Rivers. There are so many little bits of foreshadowing like that I've been picking up this reread that I never noticed before. Like the dragon's fang chapter icon for "The Peddler."

Oo, I hadn't noticed that one! When I first read the books I kind of ignored the chapter icons- it just didn't really occur to me to pay attention to them especially since, at the beginning of the series, they didn't really mean much to me. They were just pretty pictures. During the reread I've been trying to pay attention to them, but apparently old habits die hard. :look:

Listening to Audio book I do not get Chapter Icons, though with this information my only comment is.

THE FORESHADOWING!

The icons does matter! :) I always check the icon before starting a new chapter.

I will ill start at chapter 10 tomorrow. Am I reading in right path? Or am I too far ahead?

This quote amused me:

Next he might actually meet the Green Man, or an Ogier giant, or a wild, black-veiled Aielman.

Heh.

Mother Rhed will you post an official reading schedule with the dates and chapters we're supposed to keep to? It would be very helpful for me. :look:

Imzadi, you're welcome to read ahead, but I for one am taking it slow and keeping to the 1 chapter per day schedule (ok, so I'm already a little behind :look: ). I'd like to encourage discussion of just the chapters 'officially' read, so if you're reading ahead, keep that in mind. :D

Thank you Mother Rhed. Then it mean I'm like 1 week too fast. I can put the book down for few days.

Re: 2015 Re-Readalong: EoTW, Prologue - Chapter 6

One thing I noted that I hadn't picked up before was that in the Prologue, Ishy says it will not be over between him and LTT until "the end of time" which we later find out is what he actually wants, unlike the other forsaken who all home for a remaking of the world with them in charge

It's also interesting just how isolated the Two Rivers are - they see Lan's Warder Cloak and Moiraine's Aes Sedai ring, but don't know what the two mean

I noted that about the ring, too, Toral.

I just read the introduction to Thom this morning. :joy

I am frankly surprised that Lan wears that cloak :look: I know that most of the people there doesn't know what it means, but it is quite risky to expose himself that way, especially when you consider what the general feeling about Aes Sedai is :look:

And also, I bet Tam knows what they means, he was a commander in the Illianer Companions after all :look:

Tam's not the kind to tell stories, I guess.

That is true, and he seems to not be quite as hostile towards Aes Sedai as the rest of them...

Well, apart from the Raven's Prologue, where Tam tells a story

Misconceptions about the world also abound - the Dragon and the Dark One are confused, even the "The Dark One and the forsaken were bound at the moment of forsaken" and whether the forsaken could actually do anything, as well as the story Thom promises to tell about the Dragon's attempt to free the Dark One

Interesting -- what was the story he told? Did it have Aes Sedai?

It was about the attack on the bore and the hundred companions. I don't have it on me, and my ebook only has the original prologue, but that is what the library says. I don't know if we hear the story, or just that he told it

Something else is tht we also see the first explicit links to this being our world, in the tales Thom promises to tell when we first meet him.
There was also something that could count as ironic foreshadowing - "X could certainly never happen" then X happens, but I didn't note it so will have to re-read to pick it up

Re: 2015 Re-Readalong: EoTW, Prologue - Chapter 6

Tam gathers some of the boys, Rand's friends etc and started to talk about that story, and yes, he's talking about some of the Aes Sedai that's darkfriends and some became the forsaken ones. And also talks about the dragon and how he and the 100 companions, that fought the dark one and sealed them all (dark one and the forsaken ones). That's the earlier story in the updated versions of The Eye of the World. (Ravens)
