Greetings! I come with big exciting news!!!
As you may have seen in the Executive Meeting Discussion forum we have taken another big step and I am excited to share it with everyone. As with the creation of the Community Council we as an administration believe that it is important all members are recognized as equals, some have been here for 20+ years as Sedai or Gaidin, others are newer and just traversing through the ranks, more still have been in our community for many years either as Resident Citizens or just travelling through the ranks as a slower speed. Together we make a community.
Having extended representation to all members it’s time to take the next step and complete more work we started back at our January Executive Meeting. At that time we addressed the problematic use of the term Junior Member by deciding that we have Members, including Senior Members. This still left a dichotomy within the organization that underscored a false belief that some members are in some way inferior to others. Because words carry power it is important that we find a better way to describe everyone. Further it created a fair amount of confusion in communication. So, we're taking the next logical step.
We’re doing away with both terms Junior Members and Senior Members!
We will now have our Citizenry, to reference Novices, Recruits, Soldiers, and Accepted we have our Tower Initiates, and as our Aes Sedai and Gaidin have sworn the three oaths, they will be our Tower Sworn.
This is a big change that is going to take the dedication of all our members. It is also creating a massive project for the Department of Research and Records and our Archivist. Updates to the library and our other documentation is going to be ongoing- and is a great opportunity for you to jump in and help out. If you are interested please email archivist@tarvalon.net and librarian@tarvalon.net so we can get started. Many hands and light work.
Thank you to the Community Council for your input workshopping our new terminology!
