Good morning all,

I am currently on a re-read of the WoT, been a fan for a few decades and decided with the TV series coming along that my first re-read was in order. There are so many good books and alas so little time, that I rarely re-read anything. However WoT is a worthy addition to my re-reads.

1. Who is your favourite character in The Wheel of Time and why? Please use spoiler tags if you give away any info, this is a spoiler free forum :pleased-1:
Too many to possibly say but I think I'll shout out the EF5 - all great in their own way. If I have to choose from the Shadow then I find Ishamael to be very interesting.

2. How did you find TarValon.Net?
Scouted it out on a To'Raken. (Actually I just googled).

3. What do you do? (student? job? hobbies?)
Head of IT for a construction company.

4. Where are you from? What languages to you speak?
England and English.

5. What is your favourite book or author other than Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time?
Again a bit of a cop out but so many to choose from. Although I love both Fantasy and Science Fiction.

Welcome! :pleased-1:

What other books do you reread then? I reread indiscriminately so made me curious

Argh the dreaded question! Ok so here are some authors I enjoy off the top of my head, Fantasy through to SF (although some of these authors fit in both camps):

Tolkien, Le Guin, Gemmell, Sanderson, Feist, Abercrombie, Zelazny, Brooks, Hobb, Haydon, Bakker, Herbert, Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein, Vinge, Tchaikovsky, Matheson.

Last year I was reading a lot of older and more obscure SF. This year my reading hasn't been great due to work commitments but I'm going to knuckle down to finish WoT re-read next year and start some more new reads.

I just realised you asked what I re-read.... not what I read.

So my re-reads:
Herberts: Dune (The first 3)
Tolkiens: LotR
R Scott Bakkers: The Prince of Nothing

Hobb was a weird one for me. I struggled with Assassins Apprentice and then devoured the next two once became accustomed to Hobbs voice and style - she writes very close to a person and I find with Hobb I get a real sense of connection to her characters and their motives and feelings. I still have the Liveship Trilogy and the Tawny Man trilogy to read (I have both sets of books in pristine condition waiting to be read).

Le Guin - I am very new to Le Guin, I read the first Earthsea book earlier this year and really enjoyed it (have 3 different covers of that book - but I kept buying them when I saw them because they were different and nice covers), I have the Left Hand of Darkness and The Dispossesed on my TBR shelves (those were second hand and not in pristine condition).

Abercrombie I have read First Law and Heroes and Best Served Cold and also the first book Half a King. (Also pretty sure I have a signed Sharp Ends - although it may be the final First Law book I have signed).

Sanderson - I have read a lot of Sanderson but haven't started on his big series yet - although Sanderson is a writing machine!

Tolkien - I have read all of his fiction. At least once, some more than once, some more than twice.

Thankyou for the welcome.

I've never re-read Feist but I've read everything by him except for the new Firemane stuff.

The series you mentioned is The Servant of the Empire series with Janny Wurts, who in my opinion did a fantastic job co-writing in Feists world. Mara of the Acoma is one of my favourite female protagonists. I think Wurts also has an epic fantasy called War of Light and Shadow - it doesn't seem to be very well known or widely available but is always one I am on the lookout for.

Welcome!

I read Feist quite a few years ago, up to the Serpentwar books. He's up for a reread for me this year, and perhaps I'll finally finish all of his Midkemia stuff up this time around. ;)

Welcome, rereads are like meeting up with old friends for sure. Asimov and Heinlein seem to generally top my list of rereads, and of course, WoT and LoTR.

However, I did venture into the new SciFi realm of the Expanse and the Three Body Problem. Have tried those out? I was impressed.

(PS While you are here, check out the library during your reread, invaluable!).

I started reading Hobb in high school. I've read all the Fitz books, and have been working my way through the first Liveship book for years. I love it, just some focusing issues on my part that gets in the way. Hobb's books (and Fitz) will forever have a special place in my heart

I've read all the First Law books, including the new trilogy. Have gotten both my brother (he's read all) and my partner (he's two books in) to read them too :D The Shattered Sea (I think that's what the Half a - books is called) was my first series of his. I liked it but not as much as First Law

I've read most of Sanderson at least once, working on the newest Mistborn now, but haven't read absolutely everything. There's a lot of Sanderson fans here! To no one's surprise, lol

And a lot of Tolkien fans too, to course.
