Thank you, I appreciate your welcome! :) I did become a citizen awfully fast that I hope it wasn't too quickly! I am a very go go go person sometimes and that does make me hasty sometimes :$

I second what Cassie said. Don't worry about it one bit, it wasn't too fast by any means - you are neither the first nor the last to go for it. I myself was one such. :look: It was more an observation on how time escapes me.

Thank you! I was a little enthusiastic about it. :$ And I completely understand that too, time gets away from me so easily before I've done have the things I wanted or meant to do in a day

Welcome, if I haven't already said it! :)

Oh, man, Selene. Like some of the others, I first read the books in the mid-1990s, and as a teenager of 14* or so at the time, I remember being totally and completely shocked about Selene's true identity. As a 40-year-old, I now just have to shake my head and laugh, wondering how Rand and teenage me could have been so fooled.

That's definitely one of the things I enjoy about the series: When I was a kiddo, I grew and learned throughout the story alongside the younger characters. As an older adult who's revisiting the material, I identify more with the experienced, middle-aged characters, and I continue to be impressed with the real depth of the worldbuilding and Jordan's understanding of people.

Feel free to drop me a private message anytime if you like. I'm also relatively new here, and it might take me a while to respond, but that's because I occasionally wander off and forget that the Internet exists. Eventually I remember to check my messages (and my poor tea, which is usually cold by that point), though, and I get around to writing folks back. :)

*Adjusted for accuracy. I had originally written 15, but apparently I can't remember how old I am without getting out the calculator.

The moment Selene showed up and began pushing Rand and talking about glory obsessively I knew something was off and had a bad feeling about her. Especially when Egwene had that dream.

I wish I had grown up reading the books but I was only 6 when the first one even came out so it was definitely too advanced at that point but I'm glad to be reading them now! I definitely identify with the adult characters and shake my head frequently at a number of choices the younger one makes. Especially Mat but also Rand. The world building is so vast and impressive with an amazing amount of detail. The descriptions really make it easy to visualize what the different locations look like and would feel like to be there. I really can't wait to see where the story goes from the point I'm currently at. I can't wait for them to get to the Waste

Thank you, I appreciate the offer and will be sure to do that! And no worries about taking a while to respond!

I was definitely too young for them, too, when TEotW came out in early 1990. I didn't start the books till the fall of 1995, when I was 14, which was after the publication of LoC but prior to ACoS. In 1990 I think I was still wrapped up in Jane Yolen's Pit Dragon books (Dragon's Blood, etc.) and anything to do with ancient Egypt. As for now vs. then, the best time to find a book, IMO, is when you find it. :) I am glad you found the series when you did and that we get the chance to share your enjoyment with you!

I am glad to have found the books and thank the show's release for that because without it I never would have. The discovery of a series as in depth as this is very exciting and I am having fun sharing my journey through the books. I have so many questions on what will happen. I have accidentally spoiled myself on a few things but not so deeply in detail as to ruin it completely. One just makes me very curious to get to Lord of Chaos so I'll finally understand what people were talking about.

I didn't fully embrace the fantasy genre until I reached middle/high school when a friend introduced me to Mercedes Lackey's Mage Wars trilogy and read everything Peter S. Beagle has ever written regarding unicorns and also read Lord of the Rings for the first time. I think it's a rite of passage that every kid anywhere goes through a period of being obsessed with ancient Egypt. I know I did too and I had several friends who did the same. :)

Were those from looking things up in our library, reading news articles, or some other way?

I loved ancient studies! My problem was that I tried to turn it into a degree, but the program got cut after my first year. :grumble

It was well before I joined here and by my own fault completely for not treading carefully when I looked a couple things up on the wot wiki that I assumed at the time would be inconsequential enough not to have spoilers and then through tumblr where I stumbled on one by accident but it wasn't a big enough spoiler to completely ruin anything but it does puzzle me to find out the context when I reach that point.

That's too bad, I'm sorry that happened! :hug Seems like there's just no respect for some subjects
